Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided at the time of booking confirmation or when you collect your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Leicestershire, you must be at least 21 years of age, though some vehicle categories may have different age requirements and additional fees for drivers under 25. You need to possess a valid full driving licence appropriate for the vehicle type, held for the duration indicated in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or in person at our Leicestershire office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to carefully check the vehicle for any pre-existing damage and report it right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied accordingly. Please return the vehicle with the same level of fuel as when you received it; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as this may result in additional fees. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every rental in Leicestershire. Comprehensive details and excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to lessen your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges, reflecting the terms agreed upon at the time of rental.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Vehicles must not be used for purposes they are not intended for, including exceeding passenger or weight limits. Driving outside agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Leicestershire is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the amount you paid for the rental within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
